Opening in May 2022, the year of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, the Elizabeth Line is the result of the biggest infrastructure project in a generation, connecting Central London with Reading in the west, and Shenfield in the east.
Rimex supplied approximately 30 tonnes of 316 grade stainless steel for the regeneration of Whitechapel Station alone; this material was a mixture of 1.5mm and 2.0mm in Granex™ C1A, M1A, 2WL and Inco Black Granex™ M1A finishes. These finishes were then utilised across ticket hall areas, concourses, stairwells, lifts, columns, and kick plates to fire doors, adopting a variety of fabrication techniques throughout the station. In the right fabricator’s hands, the possibilities are limitless.
Stainless steel is a very durable material, even when used in high traffic areas.
